My Fast Food

Growing up fast food was a major part of my life. I recall walking into a McDonald’s going up to the register and asking the cashier for a cheeseburger happy meal. Which happen to be a cheeseburger, order of fries a drink, and a toy. They only reason I ordered the happy meal was for the surprise inside, the toy. My parents were not raised eating out all of the time. My mother always made me and my sibling’s home cooked meals. I recollect my mother and my aunts making a big feast every Sunday evening at my grandmother’s house. If there was ever a celebration taking place, my family would not order catering. They would supply the home cooked meals for the entire family. Nevertheless I chose not to eat there cooked meals. Why? I became addicted to take out. My friends played a major influence when it came to fast food. It was quick, convenient, and deliciously tasty. This was during high school that I became a fanatic of fast food. Working at a fast food part time certainly did not help the situation. I frequently visited McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Pollo Nortenio, and many other places. Absolutely infatuated with crunch tacos, French fries, nachos, burritos I could go on forever. Walking into any of these restaurants I usually felt anxious, hungry, excited, and unsure of what I wanted to order. I recall all of the bright lights and big flamboyant signs that the restaurants would use to capture my attention. Afterwards when I finished my meal I would begin to feel a bit sleepy and sluggish. I would head home and end up sleeping on the couch for a couple of hours. I came to the point where enough was enough and I decided to change my eating habits for good.
My habits have dramatically changed now that I am older. I do not eat out as much I also try to eat as healthy as possible. My husband contributes a major role because he’s into being in shape and eating right. We both help each other out. When it comes to my fourteen month old son Joseph, I try to provide him with healthy eating habits. Same with him I also avoid giving him any junk food and any take out. I do this because his health is very important to me. Me and my husband are the ones setting the example. For the past couple of years I have began to cook at home. Some of the items I cook up in the kitchen are; grilled chicken, steamed vegetables, wheat rice, sweet potatoes, and many more. I do avoid eating chips, soda, and fried food, anything that is processed. I stick to organic food. Because I’m home more often cooking we both save a lot of money on food. Now I do not rely on fast food. I would say that I eat out about once or twice a month. I do try to avoid eating out as much as possible. I’ve seen many families’s rely on fast food. They end up eating out on a daily basis. Becoming inactive and getting fatigued very easily. I proposed to my self that I would not allow my self or my family to become dependent on fast food. All in all I would say that being healthy is much better then being sluggish and tiered all the time.
